Third blog post! Already :D

This week's purpose was to create a button or a slider. I tried by following the worksheet to grasp an idea on what I'm supposed to be doing. In the first part, I was somewhat successful.

But then, the second part where I was supposed to toggle the button color changing only when the cursor was hovering over the section, I found that part tricky. I could have it hover over and turn red, but really couldn't figure out how I should approach the hover action toggle. I'm assuming it would do something with Boolean, but not sure.

I was clearly stuck, and I didn't see a way out. So I decided to take a step back.

I moved on to my actual homework, back to creating a button.

Didn't know what to start with, so I started by drawing a square. Mostly buttons are squares, right?

But then, I was like, why not a circle? Then I went with a circle.

So after going back to Dan's Coding Train video on Boolean, I re-grasped the idea on boolean, and understood why we were writing toggle = !toggle; when clicked.

It was awesome to see this working! Below is a snap of the video while I was watching it. :D Hi Dan

But then I realized that there is a part that I don't like. So what I wanted with this button was, having it turn gray when hovering over, then when clicked, I wanted the background to go black and I wanted the button to turn turquoise. But oddly since the fill() had a one attribute grayscale value, it seemed like that was overwriting the fill() inside the if statement. So I couldn't make the gray hover and turquoise click co-exist in my system somehow. I'm guessing I have to approach this by using variables for the inputs in the functions? Hmm.. Not fully understanding what the problem is here.

Regardless, I am somewhat happy that I have SOMETHING to bring to class, but since I'm stuck again, it's time for me to move on and try something new. The generative stuff!!!

Exciting.

(oh XDD and I got distracted again while I was working on the button above and went back to the previous exercise) I used the boolean definitely in the wrong way, but just documented it for fun. This issue should be resolved now though :)

Ok, a night has passed and it's morning again. :)) Watched the 10Print video.

And this tutorial brought me here. I did rearrange some of the codes, just a little, and had little hope that it fixed itself, but nope. Haha.

Color is still acting weird, but I do like where this is going.

Then I tried to go a little further into chaos. BUT the problem was that it went too far. Literally! XD

The video below is where I'm at right now. I'd like to call it a happy accident, or a delightful failure. I like the way it looks and behaves, even the colors not working the way i want is sort of giving me a coordinated chaos-kind of vibe. I am enjoying this, but I really do want to understand why this is happening, and how I can consciously be in control of all of this chaos.

Oh well, but since I am here, and I'm running out of time, I'll wrap this up right here, and learn more in class.

Ciao 4 now p5!
